In recent years my work has concentrated more on large scale work using welded metal. These sculptures are still very much informed by considerations of rhythm and balance, though the rhythms have become more eccentic in recent explorations. I think of these new sculptures as three dimensional line drawings (they do in fact spring from ink doodles), but I also think of them as jazz phrases–no hidden meanings, just something spontaneous, lyrical, and sometimes loopy, with the interval between notes as essential as the notes themselves.
